Privacy Policy

This policy explains what KipperClipper collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and collect as little as we can.

What we collect

• Account: your email address and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store your actual password).
• Age: the date you turn 18, worked out from the date of birth you enter. We don't store your birthday. For users aged 13 to 17, we also store a parent or guardian's name and email and when they approved the account.
• Your clips: the YouTube links you submit, the settings you choose and the clips we make.
• Billing: your plan and subscription status from Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
• Messages: your name, email and message if you contact us.
• Marketing (only if you allow it): which link brought you here (UTM tags and the referring website).

How we use it

To run your account, make your clips, take payments, send account emails (like confirming your email, resetting your password or asking a parent to approve an account), answer messages, keep the service secure and prevent abuse. We do not sell or "share" your personal information for advertising, and we don't show ads.

Legal bases (EU and UK)

We process data to perform our contract with you (running your account and clips), for our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, improving the service), with your consent (optional marketing attribution, and a parent's consent for teen accounts), and to meet legal obligations (for example tax records).

Children and teens

KipperClipper is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you enter a date of birth under 13, we don't create an account and store nothing about you. Users aged 13 to 17 can only use their account after a parent or guardian approves it by email; no ID is ever requested. A parent or guardian can review or delete their child's information, or withdraw consent, at any time by emailing privacy@kipperclipper.com. If we learn we have data from a child under 13, we delete it.

Service providers

We use a few trusted providers who process data only to run KipperClipper: Stripe (payments), Resend (account emails), Anthropic (AI that reads video transcripts to pick clip moments), Render (hosting and storage) and a network proxy provider used to download YouTube videos. They are bound by contracts to protect your data.

Cookies and local storage

We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. It can't be turned off because the site doesn't work without it. Your browser also remembers your choices (light or dark mode, language, text size, cookie choice), drafts of forms you haven't sent, recently viewed pages and an offline copy of public pages. These stay on your device.

If you click “Accept all”, we also remember which link brought you to KipperClipper for up to 30 days and save it with your account if you sign up, so we know which promotions work. Choose “Essential only” and we never store it. You can change your choice any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party trackers, and our fonts are hosted on our own server.

How long we keep data

Clips are deleted 1 hour after you download them, or after 24 hours if never downloaded. On Unlimited, clips you choose to store are kept until you delete them (and for 7 days after an Unlimited plan ends). Source videos are only kept while a clip is being made. Account data is kept until you delete your account. Payment records may be kept by Stripe and us as tax law requires.

Security

Passwords are hashed with Argon2id, all traffic uses HTTPS, login cookies can't be read by scripts, and access to data is limited to what's needed to run the service.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, download or delete your data, and to stop optional processing. You can delete your account yourself from the Account page at any time, which permanently deletes your data and cancels any subscription. Residents of California and other US states have the right to know, delete and correct, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights; we don't sell or share personal information. In the EU and UK you can also object, restrict processing and complain to your data protection authority. Email privacy@kipperclipper.com and we'll answer within 30 days.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, they use safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes

If we make important changes to this policy, we'll tell you by email or in the app before they apply.
